This section of my electronic portfolio provides a place to include the actual artifacts (i.e., evidence) I have produced for key assignments that met the ALA Core Competencies.  For each Core Competency,  I have identified an assignment or assignments that display an understanding of that competency.  In addition to  identifying the assignments that meet ALA Core Competencies, I have provided the following information on the sub-page that accompanies the ALA Core Competency exemplified in the assignment:

  • Course in which I completed the assignment (e.g., INFO 5200, Information Organization Project)
  • Name and brief description of the assignment
  • Date of completion of the assignment
  • Copy of the paper/document/etc. I submitted for the assignment
  • A short reflective essay (150-250 words) on the assignment and my learning outcomes
The ALA (American Library Association)  Core competencies define the basic knowledge that should be possessed by all persons graduating from an ALA-accredited master’s program in library and information studies.  This page has 8 sub-pages, 1 for each ALA competency.  Under each page, the competencies are linked.
