The attached artifact of learning from INFO 5000 meets Competency 1 because of the following:

The Final Term Paper in both Stages one and two adheres to the following annotations:  1A, which states, "The ethics, values, and foundational principles of the library and information profession."  My term paper's topic is about data librarians and the competencies that librarians should possess to provide customers with data information services.  My paper asserts that librarians who provide data services should be professed in good practices in data management and research guidelines.  It is also imperative that librarians who embark on data information services should demonstrate a commitment to learning about emerging technologies in the field.

It is also important to thoroughly discuss data librarianship and the competencies required for the role.  The paper explores the drivers, needs, and trends that have led to creating the data librarian role.  The discussion of these drivers satisfies annotation 1F, which states, "National and international social, public, information, economic, and cultural policies and trends of significance to the library and information profession".

In the paper, there is discussion about techniques that library professionals should employ to provide data information services that address annotation 1I which states, " The techniques used to analyze complex problems and create appropriate solutions".

  •  October 2020 (Fall Semester)
  • Final grade in the INFO 5600 course:  A
The attached artifact of learning from INFO 5600 meets Competency 1 because of the following:

The Final Group Project, I & II for INFO 5600, meets annotation 1E, which states, "Current types of library (school, public, academic, special, etc.) and closely related information agencies."  The project is a Zen meditation resources pathfinder for users of a special library located in a Zen meditation center.  The project also meets annotation 1J, which states, "Effective communication techniques (verbal and written)."  The online pathfinder is accompanied by an overview that is written in a narrative.  The purpose of the overview is to communicate the purpose, audience, and evaluation plan of the pathfinder.  The purpose of the pathfinder is to support users' information-seeking goals in contemplative arts (mindful meditation).  The users are identified as possessing a basic understanding of zen meditation practice.  The pathfinder tool's effectiveness will be evaluated on how easy and quickly the user can find the information they are seeking.  The usability of the tool will be measured by a voluntary survey embedded in the online pathfinder.
