Conferences & Presentations

MaNais, Z. & Rowell, P.C. (2012). Flipping the Classroom with Web 2.0 [Conference session].  Online Lifeline Conference, Valdosta, GA, United States.  https://vtext.valdosta.edu/xmlui/handle/10428/1104

I delivered this presentation during my tenure as an online program instructional designer back in 2012. Although not immediately noticeable, this presentation was given prior to my name change to Patton after tying the knot. However, I have since gone through a divorce. The presentation delves into the learning experiences of a graduate-level Psychology course, which was delivered through online lectures while in-person class time was devoted to project-based learning. The lecture component was captured with Voicethread, which is an educational technology that operates through the cloud.

[StudentXCommunityUserGroup]. (2023, April 13). Tableau tips & tricks - what they don't teach you in class [Video]. YouTube. https://youtu.be/ZgavoMx6pKo

In my presentation titled "Dashboard Performance," at the 57:33 mark, I explain how you can use Tableau's two tools, the Tableau Performance Checklist and the Workbook Optimizer, to enhance the performance of your dashboards. By following best practices, these tools can help you design visualizations that perform optimally. During the presentation, I will demonstrate how using these tools can improve the quality of your Tableau dashboards.

I led the creation of the Tableau Student Ambassador Workshop Delivery Plan, which was developed by six international Tableau Academic Ambassadors for the StudentXCommunity Tableau User Group webinar "Tableau Tips &Tricks - What They Don't Teach You In Class." Our efforts were recognized by the Tableau Academic Specialists, who expanded our work into a worldwide webinar. In addition to managing the project, I performed various tasks, including agenda setting, managing online planning tools, recording and distributing meeting minutes, scheduling meetings, testing audience engagement tools, and reporting on project progress to stakeholders via Slack to mitigate risks and ensure project success.
